Dr. David Clark:
Precision Porcelain
Preparations Workshop
Thursday, September 13, Faculty of
Dentistry - University of Manitoba
9:00 am – 5:00 pm
This "Hands On" course is presented by Dr. David Clark,
founder of the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry.
The AMED is an international association formed to advance
the science and practice of microendodontics,
microperiodontics, microprosthodontics and microdentistry.
Synopsis:
Porcelain laminate preparations have gone through several
generational changes. There is significant disagreement
among clinicians regarding preparation design, compounded
by ever changing materials. The process remains
unpredictable. Full coverage porcelain restorations are
now undergoing a revolution because of the advent of
zirconia-based prosthetics. New challenges and unforeseen
possibilities await.
Participants will prepare a variety of porcelain laminate
and full coverage preparations with the operating
microscope. The rationale for the variations will be
detailed. Different porcelain types such as feldspathic
and pressed ceramics and zirconia ceramics are addressed
as to their impact on preparation design, seating and
cement selection.
In addition to hands on exercises, multiple cases will are
presented to demonstrate:
- Incorporation of digital photography
- Modern treatment planning
- Vertical dimension
- Temporization
- Precise seating
- Pontic site development
- How advanced magnification and biomimetics together
are breaking old stereotypes
Bonus Exercise: Participants will also have the
opportunity to perform minimally traumatic preparations
and direct class II composites restorations utilizing the
Bioclear tm matrix systems and 3M Filtek Supreme tm
flowable and paste composites. Participants will receive a
complimentary bur kit, composites, and matrix systems.
