Welcome Messages
This year Vancouver has
the privilege of hosting both
the 16th Annual Canadian Academy of Restorative
Dentistry and Prosthodontics General Meeting and the
annual meeting of the Academy of Prosthodontics of
Canada.
Our meeting place will be the
very beautiful and intimate Sutton Place Hotel
located in downtown Vancouver. Sutton Place has
recently undergone a major renovation.

 |
It is located in the middle of
Vancouver’s elegant shopping district. There are
plenty of sites to see and places to visit, all
within a short distance. The convention committees have worked very hard to
put together a scientific meeting that will prove to
be very stimulating, combining ground breaking
topics in fast paced lecture format, with case
presentations and educational table clinics. For
those wanting more, Drs. Chris Wyatt and Ron Zokol
have put together a limited attendance University
tour, anatomy and scientific session, including
lunch at the new UBC dental facility.
As always, there will be an interesting and
captivating social program for the partners. And of
course, the Thursday outdoor activities of kayaking,
sturgeon fishing and golfing will take place.
Mark your calendars, because this meeting in
Vancouver has all the best that B.C. has to offer, a
densely packed educational meeting, lots of
activities to take part in, all in a spectacular
city that is about to host the 2010 Olympics.

Meeting Co-Chairs |
The Canadian Academy of
Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics
is an organization dedicated to the art and science
of restorative dentistry, prosthodontics and related
subjects. Members include academics,
specialists, and general dentists from across
our country.
We meet each autumn in a
different Canadian city to learn from the
invited speakers, members, and guests as well as
to socialize amongst like minded professionals.
Not only does one come away from the meeting
with many useful “pearls”, the meeting also
tends to invigorate the delegates as well. |

The 2008 meeting in Vancouver will be also hosted by
the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada.
Meeting Scientific Chair Dr. Ron Zokol has arranged
a dazzling array of national and international
speakers who will complement the two day meeting
theme: Implants and Tooth Coloured Restorative/
Prosthodontic Materials. Dr. Zokol has also arranged
for a pre-conference dissection course related to
implant therapy in concert with the University of
British Columbia. Other pre-conference events will
be golfing and kayaking while post-conference rail
travel packages (Whistler, Banff) will be available
for those that wish to spend more time in the
beautiful Pacific Northwest at arguably the best
time of the year. During the two day conference
other events will be organized for delegates and
traveling companions. All in all, it will be
another great meeting with a well choreographed
balance of the didactic and the social.
On behalf of The Canadian Academy of Restorative
Dentistry and Prosthodontics I invite you attend the
2008 meeting. For more meeting details please follow
the conference links section or feel free to contact
me as you so choose. I look forward to seeing you in
Vancouver.

President, The Canadian Academy of Restorative
Dentistry and Prosthodontics |
Hello and Welcome to the
2008 Joint Meeting of the Canadian Academy of
Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics and the
Association of Prosthodontists of Canada.
I am honored to be associated
with this fine group during my term as President
of the APC. I know many of you attending are APC
members and this is a fine opportunity to
strengthen our relationships with each other,
both ‘on and off the field’.

One of our major themes this year
is to improve communication throughout the dental
community, embracing Specialist and General Dentist
alike in the name of excellent patient care and
solidarity in our profession.
Dr. Ron Zokol, as Scientific
Chair, has put together a fine lineup of talent and
subjects under the expanding and often controversial
area of dental ‘Implants and Tooth Coloured
Restorative/Prosthodontic Options', and I am sure we
will all enhance our abilities as a result.
I also look forward to
inaugurating Dr. Terry Donovan as an honorary member
of the APC this year. This man has a long history of
guiding our profession through research and
education and I for one am proud to call him my
mentor. I am sure you will all find his solid
footing in reality and unique presentation style a
breath of fresh air as we seem to be constantly
inundated by ‘new and improved’ materials and
techniques.
As always I look forward to being
able to spend some time revisiting old friends and
kindling new relationships that this meeting will
encourage. Talk to someone you have never met, look
for ways to increase your circle of influence and I
am sure you will be rewarded many times over.
Sincerely,
Brent Beyak
