N. Dorin Ruse received his MSc in
Chemistry from the Babes-Bolyai University, Romania,
and his PhD in Materials Science - Biomaterials from
the University of Toronto. He was a MRC of Canada
post-doctoral fellow at Queen Mary College, London,
England and at the Centre for Biomaterials, Toronto.
Since 1991, he has done research and taught courses
in Bio- and Dental Materials at the Faculty of
Dentistry, UBC. He has published and lectured
extensively on dental materials topics.
He is a member of the Chemical
Institute of Canada, the International Association
for Dental Research, the Society for Biomaterials,
the Academy of Dental Materials, the Pierre Fauchard
Academy, and the American Chemical Society. He was
President (2004-2006) and is the Past President
(2006-2008) of the Academy of Dental Materials; he
was Secretary (1999-2005) and Chairman (2005-2006)
of ISO TC106 – Dentistry SC1 – Restorative and
filling materials. He is a member of the editorial
board of Dental Materials, editorial consultant for
the Journal of Adhesive Dentistry, the Journal of
the Canadian Dental Association, and Dentistry South
Africa, and is a reviewer for several other
journals.
He is currently Professor and Chair
of the Division of Biomaterials, cross-appointed in
the departments of Oral Biological and Medical
Sciences and Oral Health Sciences.
